"HMC" stands for "Holy Mother of Consolation," a Catholic parish of roughly 1,500 families south of Madison, Wisconsin -- in the beautiful town of Oregon (pop. 8,500), home of the Oregon Panthers. Go Panthers!
ABOVE: Meet the "Cordova Christ," the massive monument to Christ the Redeemer that hovers over the bustling city of Rio de Janiero, Brazil. This guy is a whopping 7 tons of stone -- and 170 feet tall. He's also a constant reminder to all who crowd the streets of Rio -- international travelers and local merchants, drug lords and street kids, Catholic natives and Catholic missionaries -- that Jesus is always present, bigger, and stronger than anything else trying to cast a shadow over people's lives. MAY WE REMEMBER THE SAME! (See more images of the "Cordova Christ" by clicking on the pics above. And if you ever get to Rio, you should look him up -- not that you could easily miss him!)

Note about RSS "feeds" like Teens Today: In some cases, because opinions are being expressed, you may not always agree 1000 percent with EVERYTHING that's being said among the authors and their readers/responders. However, on the whole, the feeds are carefully chosen and monitored with the intent of them being helpful for youth to become more aware, literate, and conscientious about the implications of Christian discipleship in our world today.
